Rock music is a broad genre of popular music that originated as "rock and roll" in the United States in the late 1940s and early 1950s, and developed into a range of different styles in the mid-1960s and later, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom. By the late 1960s "classic rock" period, a number of distinct rock music subgenres had emerged, including hybrids like blues rock, folk rock, country rock, southern rock, raga rock, and jazz rock. STEREO 974, were previously situated at the Westend Market Complex North Sunshine, and had in fact been located there since 1990. They are "by the community, for the community" and operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week, providing what they believe is a high standard of broadcasting to an extremely diverse cultural and linguistic audience within their community.

This is the first radio station in Ithaca, the station "returned" to FM in 2010 thanks to a 200-watt translator at 95.9 FM, which covers a good portion of the station's core audience around Ithaca, NY. The "original" WHCU-FM became WYXL in 1986, and remains "Lite Rock 97.3"

92.9 River FM is Lismore's longest running community radio station and independent media. We are currently located at 4 Foleys Rd, South Lismore; 40 minutes drive from the beautiful Byron Bay. The station has been operating since 1976 and we are managed by North Coast Radio, Inc, a not-for-profit organisation. They rely on the contribution of local volunteers, producing shows for a diverse range of people and tastes in music.

We don't take ourselves too seriously, and aren't a "boys club" like some stations. Men and women who love rock enjoy Q! music and find our mediocre entertainment mostly passable. The Q! mixes classics from artists like Aerosmith, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones with newer rock from the likes of U2, the Foo Fighters and the Dave Matthews Band.
