7EDG Edge Radio
Nothing like Edge Radio has existed before in Hobart. We provide a progressive, interactive community service that has been available in other Australian capital cities for decades. After a 4 week trial period in August 2002, Edge was awarded a permanent community radio licence in Dec 2002. We then commenced permanent broadcast in Feb 2003.Edge is committed to enhancing Hobart’s culture by providing a credible, not-for-profit service that fills a void in Hobart’s airwaves. As Hobart’s only youth focused community station, we provide a mix of arts, music, entertainment, local journalistic content and information to enhance Hobart’s cultural landscape. Edge broadcasts to the greater Hobart area on 99.3fm, and webstreams globally on www.edgeradio.org.au/listen.php.

Highland FM was founded in the late 1970s and began full-time broadcasting in 1987. Licensed as a Community Broadcaster, the station’s philosophy is to cater for local needs, mirror our community’s interests, entertain and inform as well as provide opportunities to train in radio skills and access to local airwaves. Primarily funded by its own resources, the station has no paid full-time staff and relies on volunteers for its operation and management.

7HO FM (call sign: 7HHO) is one of 3 commercial radio stations in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It commenced broadcasting on 13 August 1930, as the first commercial radio station in its city.The station's initial frequency was 890 kHz AM, in 1935 moving to 860 kHz, then in 1978 to 864 kHz.[2] The "HO" derives from the surname of the founder of the station Ron Hope, not Hobart as many may believe.On 1 November 1990, 7HO converted to the FM band - 101.7 MHz. The official call-sign was changed to 7HHO but the station identified on-air as "Mix 101 HOFM". It then rebranded as "HOFM", and on 5 November 2007, it re-added the "7" to its branding, changing its on-air name to "7HO FM". The first Announcer on the new FM station was Brett Marley.
